Here at Paul’s Place, we truly value those who volunteer their time. Each month, we recognize our top volunteers who have performed outstanding work in our community. Many volunteers have come to find that volunteering has not only become a rewarding experience, but it has also elevated their career beyond expectations. Putting Paul’s Place volunteers in the spotlight is our way of showing gratitude to all those who get involved and pursue lifelong learning and assisting others. This month, we are showcasing Paul Schurick.

Paul Shurick – known to most Paul’s Place staff and guests as “Mr. Paul” – has a reputation for his outstanding motivation to the people in Pigtown.
five years of service
His dedication is endearing as he has been coming to Paul’s Place and donating his time to the mission for more than five years. Not only does he volunteer time at Paul’s Place, he also helps out with administrative duties. In addition, he is a mentor to many guests and staff known as “the sandwich guy,” a frequent doorman, and even sometimes a skilled de-escalator in high-stress moments. He welcomes everyone with open arms and a spirit which shines brightly.
Thank you, Paul, for your continued dedication to the people of Pigtown, your unwavering service to Paul’s Place, and your strong commitment to under-served communities and individuals.
