Thank you to Wells Fargo, Presenting Sponsor!

June 23rd, 2016

Wells Fargo – a provider of banking, mortgage, investing, credit card, insurance, and consumer and financial services – has supported Paul’s Place’s mission and programs for more than a decade, financially and with essential volunteer support. The company’s commitment was already an example of a true corporate/non-profit partnership, and this year, Wells Fargo increased its support on both fronts: Wells Fargo was one of three Presenting Sponsors for the Paul’s Place Benefit Breakfast Community Fundraisers, and Andy Bertamini, Regional President for Wells Fargo Bank, chaired the events. Thank you!

Since 2002, Wells Fargo (formerly Wachovia) has contributed over $200,000 and more than 5,000 hours of volunteer service to Paul’s Place. Wells Fargo’s grants to Paul’s Place help families access healthy food through our hot lunch and emergency food pantry programs, and engage unemployed adults and senior citizens in volunteering at Paul’s Place – while learning job and life skills in our Ambassador program.

Dawn Ferenc serves on our board of directors, chairs our program committee, is a passionate advocate for Paul’s Place within Wells Fargo, and has grown employee engagement with Paul’s Place. Wells Fargo employees, including managers at all levels within the company, now volunteer monthly to serve hot lunch, sort clothing, and be personal shoppers in our marketplace.

Employees organize company-wide drives to collect canned goods for our Thanksgiving and holiday food distribution, toys for our Holiday Gift Shop and summer camp, and clothing for our marketplace. In the last two years, teams of 25 employees have volunteered for three hours on a Saturday to help us reorganize our food pantry and pack bags of food, change over the marketplace from summer to fall clothing, and weed and plant flowers in our garden – all projects that could not be completed during normal business hours and would not have been done without Wells Fargo’s volunteer help.

Andy Bertamini got his start in banking on Washington Boulevard in Pigtown and has been committed to improving the quality of life in Southwest Baltimore ever since. This year, Andy increased his commitment to Paul’s Place by chairing our Benefit Breakfasts and leveraged Wells Fargo’s support with other local companies. He organized a corporate leadership volunteer day and brought 21 leaders from 12 Baltimore area companies to Paul’s Place, many for the first time – in addition to securing a presenting sponsorship from Wells Fargo for this event.

Andy shared the company’s philosophy on community involvement and their support of Paul’s Place: “We don’t see this as ‘giving back’…to us, it’s not about charity. It’s about thoughtfully investing our resources – our money, our time, and our energy – to build strong communities where our customers, team members, and families live and work. When we all join together to do just that, life is better for all of us.”

Paul’s Place is grateful to the Wells Fargo for all the ways the company and its employees support our work. Thank you!
