Thank you to STX, Presenting Sponsor!

July 6th, 2017

STX – a national company based just blocks from Paul’s Place – is an excellent example for the local business community! Makers of fine lacrosse, hockey, and field hockey equipment, STX has led the way for local businesses to get involved: as event sponsors, as volunteers on our board and committees, as employers of our guests, and more. This year, STX was again one of the three Presenting Sponsors for the Paul’s Place Benefit Breakfasts on May 1 and 2. Thank you!

The partnership with STX dates back to 2012 when STX sponsored our first Benefit Breakfasts – and has grown as employees have learned more about and become engaged in our work. The company has been a top sponsor of our Benefit Breakfasts every year, worked with our Goodwill Employment Specialist to hire seasonal employees, and donates new clothing for our Market Place.

STX has also encouraged its employees to get involved at Paul’s Place. Monica Tucker serves on our board of directors and has been integral in creating meaningful connections between STX and Paul’s Place. Two employees volunteered on the committee that made the inaugural Huff & Puff 5K a resounding success and recruited a team of runners, walkers, and cheerleaders from STX. And, at the holidays, employees contribute boxes and boxes of coats, food, and toys.

Giving back in Southwest Baltimore is central to the corporate values held at STX. Jim Benton, Director of Product Management, explains, “STX supports Paul’s Place because we believe in giving back to the community where we work and live. We believe we have a responsibility to make a difference in Baltimore City and help our fellow citizens to achieve the stability and self-sufficiency that we enjoy. STX and our parent company, Wm. T. Burnett & Co., have operated for 50 and over 100 years respectively, in Baltimore City only a mile away from Paul’s Place, so we are able to see up close the amazing work that Paul’s Place does every day to improve the quality of life for individuals and families here in Southwest Baltimore neighborhoods.”

Paul’s Place is grateful to the STX for all the ways the company and its employees support our work. Thank you!
