Dinner In Spirit Social Media Toolkit

Dinner In Spirit has been a virtual event ever since our founding! Supporters of Paul’s Place were asked to set an extra place at their holiday table to remember those in need, and donate to Paul’s Place as though they had purchased an event ticket. This year, with many people celebrating the holidays remotely, we have an opportunity to spread the message of Paul’s Place’s impact to even more people by sharing stories of digital holiday togetherness using the hashtag #DinnerInSpirit.

As someone who believes in Paul’s Place’s mission, you can make a big impact on our end-of-year fundraising by sharing your own story and asking your social networks to do the same. To participate, just share one of our sample social media posts below! Use our graphic and/or a photo of your own holiday table and show how you are connecting with friends and family “in spirit.”

  • This year, since we can’t gather together in person our family is dedicating our #DinnerInSpirit to @Paul’sPlaceBmore. For nearly 40 years, they have been improving the quality of life in Southwest Baltimore communities, one meal at a time. Please join me in making a gift at

Feel free to make it personal! Miss your aunt’s pumpkin pie? Trying out a new recipe? Relieved to not be fighting traffic? Here’s an example of a personalized post:

  • “Since I live across the country from most of my family, Thanksgiving has become a day to celebrate with local friends. Thanks to COVID restrictions, though, I will be connecting with people “in spirit” over Zoom. The bird may be smaller and there may be fewer side dishes, but I’m nonetheless looking forward to sharing stories and updates. In honor of this #DinnerInSpirit, please join me in making a gift to @PaulsPlaceBmore at so they can make sure families across Southwest Baltimore also have a safe and happy holiday season.”

When to post? Thanksgiving weekend is obviously a time that many of these dinners will be happening, so that will be our big push, but any time throughout the holiday season that you have a #DinnerInSpirit is a great time to share the message. We will be re-sharing your stories throughout December!

From all of us at Paul’s Place, thank you so much for being a champion of our work to improve the quality of life in Southwest Baltimore. Getting our message out on social media this holiday season is critical for our ability to fund this work during the rest of the year.
